Who's down for another adventure? This adventure was not my first, and I hope it's not the last because every once in a while, you need a little adrenaline in your life, right? 🔥
I had family visiting from Nassau for a few days, and they wanted to hit the dirt trail and the main road in a different kind of way. The heart-racing, wind-in-your-face, and most likely dirt-and-bugs-everywhere kind of way. Soooo.... We went ATV-ing!
My cousin booked an afternoon tour through Garden of the Groves, which was the meeting site. We got an introductory session that included an overview of how to operate the ATV along with a practice session in the parking lot before taking off on the dirt trail into the thicket of the bushes. We were in deep! It was a carved-out trail with spots of tree overhangs, steep inclines and drops, and deep bends. There were so many twists and turns that I didn't even realize we had gone in a full circle until we came out where we entered! The trail was quite dusty, and even though I knew to be prepared, I was still underprepared, but that's the beauty in adventure. So key to note: if you are up for a venture but not so much on the dirt, I suggest wearing a rash guard and sweatpants/leggings with a pair of shades and a bandana to cover your nose and mouth.
From the dirt trail, it was time to hit the road. We then left the Garden of the Groves and headed on Magellan Drive towards Banana Bay but made a left at the circle and headed to Fortune Beach, where we took a rest and a couple of photos. We could not have asked for a better day — not too hot, not too sunny, it was just beautiful!
From there, we headed back on Fortune Bay Drive past Banana Bay Restaurant, crossed over Midshipman Road, and made a shortcut before arriving at East Sunrise Highway. We made our way over the Casuarina Bridge, did a quick turnaround, and returned over the bridge, then drove through a community before arriving back at Garden of the Groves.
I was a little disappointed when the tour was finished, but I know that just means it won’t be my last… or that I need to purchase an ATV, whichever comes first 😂. Whether you’re on the island of Grand Bahama or just visiting, take a leap on the adventurous side and book an ATV tour. You may be sore in the morning, but it’s so worth it!

Meditations On Life
Have you ever heard the saying, “the grass is greener on the other side?” It’s one of those sayings that’s always kind of stuck with the normal response being, “it’s greener where you water it.” I always knew what it meant, but boy did I have a 💡 moment when it finally struck home.
I’m sure you’ve noticed it’s been extremely hot lately with little to no rain in sight (thankfully we finally got the rain 🌧️ ). So you may have also noticed the grass turning brown, maybe even a little crunch underfoot. I decided to water the yard one evening in hopes of bringing the green back to the grass, and I kid you not, I heard the grass saying thank you 😂. But one particular evening, while looking at the brown grass, that old saying popped into my mind, and I realized how true it really is. I’ve seen a small handful of yards that are still quite beautifully green in this scorching heat. But the grass is only greener where it is watered.
This can be applied to everyday life situations, friendships, and relationships. It’s easy to look from the outside at someone’s relationship or their lifestyle and think they have it all figured out, but do you really know the work and struggle they faced behind closed doors to get to that point? Or is it all just a facade? Social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram often give these notions, but it's best to take them at face value.
Therefore, I’ve learned these three life tips from watering our brown grass:
A little bit of TLC can go a long way (water what you want to flourish).
You have to put in the time and effort to get the results that you want (green grass = water every day).
Don’t compare your life to others because what you see on the outside may not be what it seems (artificial grass looks green, but it’s not real).
Are you taking care of your grass?
